As I write “about me,” I am aware of the many beautiful chapters of my life that now bear a title. Some are public and well known beyond the boundaries of my family and friends; others are quieter and known only to those closest to me. Looking back, I would never have written the story that has unfolded, yet I am grateful for every season—even those marked by uncertainty. Those seasons, which once felt uncertain, have become some of the most meaningful chapters of my life.

Today, I find myself entering another new season. After decades in medicine and ten years leading a national ministry, I have the privilege of slowing the pace, investing in family, writing, speaking, mentoring, and remaining open to wherever God leads next. I have learned that purpose is less about holding a particular position and more about faithfully stewarding each season we are given.

My Professional Journey

For twenty-two years, I served as a family physician, caring for patients from the beginning to the end of life. It was a profound privilege to walk alongside individuals and families through some of life’s greatest joys and deepest challenges.

During those years, I met many young women who were challenged with an unexpected pregnancy, some of whom felt very overwhelmed and pressured by their circumstances and fears. What they needed was information and support, support that was not available from me or any other service in our town. It was the support they needed to be empowered to make their own well-informed pregnancy decision because every decision before them, whether to parent, place for adoption, or have an abortion, was a life-impacting one. That realization led me to help establish a local pregnancy care centre and, ultimately, changed the direction of my own life.

In 2016, I accepted the role of Executive Director of Pregnancy Care Canada, where I served for ten years. Working alongside an extraordinary team and the many pregnancy care centre leaders across the country, I witnessed the remarkable difference that practical support, genuine compassion, and hope can make in the lives of women, men, and families.

Although I retired from that role in 2026, my passion for building bridges, encouraging thoughtful conversations, and caring well for people continues. Retirement has simply created space for that work to take new forms through writing, speaking, mentoring, and walking alongside others.

Why I Created This Website

I never set out to speak publicly about abortion. As one of the most emotionally charged issues of our time, it is often surrounded by division, assumptions, and slogans. Yet I have come to believe that some conversations are simply too important to avoid.

My perspective is shaped by years as a physician, by thousands of conversations with individuals and families, and by a decade serving organizations dedicated to supporting women and families experiencing unexpected pregnancies. My goal has never been to win arguments but to encourage thoughtful dialogue, greater understanding, and compassionate care.

I am also a Christian. My faith has profoundly shaped both my personal journey and my understanding of grace, truth, and human dignity. I believe every person is created with immeasurable worth, and that every individual deserves to be treated with compassion, respect, and kindness.

Whether discussing unexpected pregnancy, abortion, or other difficult topics, I hope we can move beyond the language of conflict and create space for honest conversations that build bridges rather than walls. We do not need to agree on everything to speak with humility, listen well, and care deeply for one another.

I believe we can do better. 

A Little More

I am married to a wonderful husband, and together we have two incredible sons and the joy of watching our family grow into the next generation. We live in Muskoka, Ontario, one of the most beautiful places in Canada.

This season of life has given me the opportunity to slow down and invest more deeply in writing, speaking, mentoring, and walking alongside people on their own journeys of healing and hope. Throughout my years as a physician and in ministry, I have become convinced that no life is beyond God’s reach and no story is beyond His redemption.

Whether our wounds come from circumstances beyond our control or from decisions we wish we could undo, I believe Jesus still comes to bind up the brokenhearted, bring freedom to those living under shame, and exchange beauty for ashes. My hope is that this website will be a place where people encounter truth with grace, compassion without judgment, and the invitation to experience healing, restoration, and renewed purpose.

These words from Isaiah have shaped both my life and my hope for others.

“..to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”  Isaiah 61:3
