MY JOURNEY
Embrace uncertainty. Some of the most beautiful chapters in our lives
won’t have titles until much later.” Bob Goff
As I write “about me,” I am aware of the many beautiful chapters of my life that now bear a title. Some are public and known beyond the boundaries of my family and friends; others are quieter and known only to those closest to me. Looking back, I would never have written the story that has unfolded, yet I am grateful for every season—even those marked by uncertainty.
Today, I find myself entering another new season. After decades in medicine and ten years leading a national ministry, I have the privilege of slowing the pace, investing in family, writing, speaking, mentoring, and remaining open to wherever God leads next. I have learned that purpose is less about holding a particular position and more about faithfully stewarding each season we are given.
MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
For twenty-two years, I served as a family physician, caring for patients from the beginning to the end of life. It was a profound privilege to walk alongside individuals and families through some of life’s greatest joys and deepest challenges.
During those years, I met women facing unexpected pregnancies who were often navigating difficult circumstances and significant pressures. I began to recognize a gap in the practical support available in our community, support that could help women feel informed, heard, and less alone as they considered the decisions before them. That realization led me to help establish a local pregnancy care centre and ultimately changed the direction of my own life.
In 2016, I accepted the role of Executive Director of Pregnancy Care Canada, where I served for ten years. Working alongside an extraordinary team and pregnancy care centre leaders across the country, I witnessed the difference that practical support, genuine compassion, and hope can make in the lives of women, men, and families.
I retired from that role in 2026, but the things that shaped those years continue to matter deeply to me: caring well for people, building bridges, and making room for thoughtful conversations. Today, that takes new forms through writing, speaking, and mentoring.
WHY I CREATED THIS WEBSITE
My journey through medicine, ministry, and faith has given me a window into some of life’s most meaningful and sometimes most difficult experiences. Along the way, I have learned the importance of listening well, asking thoughtful questions, and making room for conversations that are too important to avoid.
Those experiences shape what I write and speak about today—faith, medicine, human dignity, unexpected pregnancy, healing, and some of the difficult questions that arise at the intersection of them. My goal is not to win arguments, but to encourage thoughtful reflection, greater understanding, and compassionate care.
At the heart of it all is my faith in Jesus. It has profoundly shaped my understanding of grace, truth, and human dignity. I believe every person has immeasurable worth and deserves to be treated with compassion, respect, and kindness.
My hope is that this website creates space for honest conversations that hold truth and compassion together. We do not need to agree on everything to speak with humility, listen well, and care deeply for one another.
A LITTLE MORE
I am married to a wonderful husband, and together we have two sons and the joy of watching our family grow into the next generation. We live in Muskoka, Ontario, one of the most beautiful places in Canada.
As I look back over the different chapters of my life, I am increasingly grateful for the faithfulness of God through all of them. I have seen Him bring hope in unexpected places, restore what seemed broken, and lead in directions I could never have anticipated.
These words from Isaiah have shaped both my life and my hope for others:
..to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.” Isaiah 61:3
